How I'd coach you if you were putting off your dreams out of fear of rejection, judgment or failure
If you were my client and you were putting off your dreams because you’re afraid of rejection, judgement or failure, here are some of the questions I would ask you…
✍🏼 These are great to use as journaling prompts! 👀
1️⃣ What are you truly so afraid of that’s holding you back from being your most authentic self and pursuing your goal? Maybe it’s the fear of rejection, the fear of judgment, the fear of failure
2️⃣ In what ways is fear stopping you right now from going after that goal FULLY? Maybe it’s procrastinating, playing small and staying in your comfort zone, avoiding difficult conversations, asking for what you really want or simply giving away precious energy and time worrying what people think of you - time that you could be spending on your goals.
3️⃣ Now what if your fear wasn’t leading the way? What might ACTUALLY become possible if you were to stop letting fear guide your actions? Would you be running your dream business? Spending every day on your passions? Would you be in your dream relationship? Would you have finally found your people?
4️⃣ What is the worst case scenario? How likely is it really? Do you have good enough evidence to believe it will actually happen?
5️⃣ What can you do to prevent the worst-case from happening? What would you do if it were to happen?…
6️⃣ Now what if you never go after your dream?… Only you can decide – is it worth it? What’s more frightening – never reaching your goal and staying where you are or taking the risk?
Usually when my clients go through this exercise they realise:
The worst case scenario is not so bad, or isn’t very likely; or, there are many things they could do to prevent the worst case scenario from happening.
For some, the worst case scenario is actually staying where they are. For most, the fear is blocking them from living their full, authentic, whole life.
❤️🩹 Fear is a gift. If we didn’t experience fear, we wouldn’t be able to detect danger. We wouldn’t survive. Our FEAR is there ultimately there to protect us. It may be protecting you right now from perceived judgment, from failure, from rejection.
🫂 So I don’t want you to invalidate it or ignore it. I want you to totally acknowledge and hold space for your fear. Show some love and compassion for this part of you.
The worst case scenario COULD happen. And that would suck.
💡AND I want you to step back and get some perspective. Your fear is also STOPPING you right now from fulfilling your potential and enjoying everything this life has to offer💡💡
Only you can decide – is it worth facing your fears? ✨
